Glimmer It Up!

I absolutely LOVED playing with all the new Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Inks. They come in packs of two - red & green, gold & pewter, bronze & copper and blue & purple. I played all weekend trying new techniques, so I will show you a few things today.

First off I tried painting gold on the new Very Merry Tree and Cut-Out Holidays Fancy Dies. I die cut both out of Snow Layering Paper. Then I painted the script area with the gold glimmer ink and a flat paintbrush, and let them dry thoroughly. I cut the tree into a square and mounted onto a green note card, then added a gold star. A simple and elegant card.

For the Cut-Out Holidays, I painted the "holiday" the same way and then inset into the negative area. I put a little tape on the back to secure it, then mounted on a red card. As an embellishment to this card, I used the Color Layering Holly , painting on some gold touches after stamping the holly in Fresh Lawn ink. Sequins from the Poinsettia pack make perfect holly berries!

Next I customized some Kraft Notecards with Envelopes. I dabbed some of the inks on freezer paper and used my brayer to ink up the large Sugar and Spice Bold Prints cling background to make the envelope liner, and also many of the Color Layering For You Flowers leaves on the notecard set. I also tried painting on the paperweight rock to see how it dried. (Not instantly but it did!)

I will show you the other card ideas and briefly explain.

On the pink flower card I randomly stamped the solid flower from Color Layering For You Flowers and overstamped with the gold glimmer ink. I added leaves, and handpainted them in with green glimmer ink that was watered down. I handprinted the gold word "Thanks". Add tiny dots for filler with light greens.

The other cards were just watercolors and gold and pewter washes on watercolor paper. The sentiments came from both the Color Layering For You Flowers and You're So Lovely stamp sets.

So take some time to play - this is like meditation for me! You will love every minute!

You have played big time Sally and they are all gorgeous. Love the first one and I think also it is a great idea to paint the sentiment, in this way you always can use more colour. Thank you for that idea and all of the other inspiration.

Henriëtte,

Great cards. Love them.

Fran Smith,

These are awesome! I love that gold glimmer ink!
