Hey friends! Lydia here with a little cozy scene today.
Disclaimer - I am no alcohol marker expert, but even simple alcohol marker scenes can be very easy and fun to do, like today's card.
Let me set the background of the scene using Cozy Winter stamp set for you. I stamped the cat first. Masked that with masking paper and stamped the girl. I masked her, leaving the cat in place, and stamped the wood stove. Then I masked the wood stove, and placed masking tape just at the feet of the stove, and ink blended Soft Granite above and below that line to create the illusion of a wall and floor.
Next, leaving all the masks in place, I ink blended a little glow around the wood burning stove with Lemon Drop ink. Then I brought in the purple around the edges.
Leaving the masks in place, I set the card up in the middle of my MISTI, and lined up the Woodgrain Bold Prints to cover the card. I misted that with water and stamped over the whole scene with the floor masked off to create a texture on the wall portion.
I removed all the masks, and colored the scene with a combo of Copic markers and pigment markers (for the red lines), blending the yellow glow with the colors for the kitty and the girl. I deliberately left the red lines out of the lit up portion of her blanket, since bright light washes everything out.
I created an angled shadow for them with a grey marker, and also colored the fire to match.
Fun fact - at the family ranch, we actually have a wood burning stove similar to this. The pipe goes up and then straight back to exit through a wall - my husband's great great grandfather built the house in the late 1800s and that to this day is still the only source of heat in the house. We went there at Christmas last year and spent a miserably cold night and had to come home. Last winter was the harshest winter in my half century in Texas! But anyway, I drew a line across the top of this image to make it look like where that pipe goes back at a 90 degree angle at the ranch!

Wonderful scene and coloring. Interesting about wood burning stove. An aunt that was my Mother’s sister had a coal burning stove in the basement. The house had no air conditioning. We spent Summers (was hot but you got use to it) at the house but not Winters.
