July My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway!

We are back with another look at the July My Monthly Hero release! The kit will be available on Monday, July 3 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We’ll be sharing ideas for using the main kit and the optional add-on products all weekend long, so stay tuned for more inspiration! Now let’s join Yana, who is sharing another look at the main kit, available tomorrow!

Whenever I spy small images in my stamp sets I try to use them to create my own unique looking pattern, so this is what I did for a card I’m sharing today.

Hello Sweet Pea Card by Yana Smakula for Hero Arts

I started working on this card by stamping a number of pea pods in black ink onto watercolor paper. I made sure to rotate my image every time I made an impression to create a dynamic and diverse pattern for my card.

Next, I watercolored my images using Daniel Smith watercolors. I first diluted my green and added a lighter wash of color to the images, later came in and added slightly darker shaded areas to make my images look dimensional. I did the same thing to color the flowers – first diluted pink and later came in with a darker pink to add shading.

I trimmed my panel to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches and adhered it onto an A2 top folding card base made out of white cardstock. I also heat embossed “Hello Sweet Pea” sentiment in white embossing powder onto black cardstock, trimmed into a strip and foam mounted onto my card. Lastly, I added several black accents to tie everything together.

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, July 3, before the kit launches at 1 pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Have fun stamping!
