June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 + Giveaway

Hello! It's time for our final countdown peek before the release of the June My Monthly Hero kit! The kit will be available tomorrow, Monday, June 3 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let's join Jess for another look at this amazing kit.

Hello! Jess here and I am just SO excited about this month's kit! I love animals and nature in general but I've been watching the Our Planet documentary recently and it's given me all sorts of ideas for the kit! Today I've created a trifold window card using lots of images from the kit!

I start by stamping a bunch of the images from the kit with Intense Black ink on watercolor paper and I loosely watercolor them using liquid watercolors. I use Moss, Pine, Dark Teal, Strawberry, Cocoa, Leaf, Mulled Wine, Orange, Dandelion, and a brand new shade that is an add-on to this month's kit! ;) Once I'm done watercoloring I die-cut all the images with the coordinating dies.

To create my card base I trim a piece of Dove White cardstock to 10 1/2" by 4 3/4" and score it at 3 1/2" and 7". Then I trim a tiny sliver of cardstock from the right panel so that it will close smoothly. I mask off the edges and blend Green Apple, Key Lime Fizz, and Blue Raspberry Reactive Inks across each panel. I splatter them with water and drops of the Reactive Inks to create dimensional vibrant backgrounds. Then I die-cut the leopard outline from the left panel and fold the card up again. I trace the inside line of the die onto the right panel and then die-cut the leopard outline from the right panel.

Then I fold the card up and adhere the leopard inside the dies to the back panel. Next I start building scenes on each panel around the leopard. Each panel is different and contains different animals or plants as if he's traveling through the jungle. I added a tiny square of foam mounting tape behind the leopard's head to pop it up slightly. This gives the die-cut edge something to hold onto so the card will lay flat. Finally I stamp both sentiments onto Pitch Black cardstock and heat-emboss them with white embossing powder. I trim them down and adhere them to the front and back panels to finish the card!

I don't think I've ever used quite so many images for a single card before but I really love the variety of images in the kit and wanted to create a diverse and vibrant environment for my leopard! :)

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, June 3, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!
