Celebrate Summer and Sunshine with Cards

Hi there, crafty friends! I’m Rebecca Keppel and today I am sharing three cards using the La Dolce Vita Collection! This collection offers a stunning assortment of dies that make it easy to create modern, beautiful, summery designs that truly celebrate a day of sunshine! One thing that I immediately associate with summer is sunshine! And the La Dolce Vita Collection Under the Sun Etched Dies creates a multi-color layered sun with a captivating face and the ability to use four different sun colors to make the face and rays. The La Dolce Vita Banners Dies actually include a sentiment that says Hello Sunshine! How perfect is that? The Lemon Fresco 3D Embossing Folder creates a subtle backdrop that pairs well with the sun, even if you choose to emboss a tertiary color combination like blue with the orange sun. The Spellbinders Chameleon Opalescent Color Essentials Sequins add a great touch of shine to the sun’s rays.

Another summer theme that comes up a lot is water! I love all water, from pools to the ocean. The Deckside Dreams Etched Dies make it a breeze to create an ocean liner at sea! You can easily piece together a ship with a smoke stack and place it in a wavy ocean setting just by using the dies from the set and various colors of Spellbinders Colorwheel Cardstock. For the sentiment, foil the Opaque White Foil* using the La Dolce Vita Sentiments BetterPress Plate and Die Set. Having the matching die set is helpful if you want to add dimension behind your sentiment with Spellbinders Foam Squares.
*Tip- if you love the look of white heat embossing on colorful cardstock, try white foiling on Spellbinders cardstock like the Cosmic Sky cardstock! It quickly and easily gives you an opaque white shiny sentiment WITHOUT needing to fuss with stray grains of white embossing powder!

Another cherished memory of summers past is the scent of summer breeze through open doors. The La Dolce Vita Beyond the Door Etched Dies includes dies that help create various open door scenes. You can customize your scene with vines, flowers, pots, doors and much more. And even though these sets are not made in comparable sizes, I decided to add a lemon and flower and leaves from the Citrus Spritz Etched Dies. Lemons and citrus are such summery images that I couldn’t pass it up! Then I used the La Dolce Vita Sentiments BetterPress Plate and Die Set to create gold foiled sentiments. And finished the flower off with an Opal Color Essentials Gem center for some additional shine.
