Fall Birthday Cards with The Birds & Bees Garden Collection

Hey dear friends! It’s Angela Tombari here! I have a set of birthday cards to share with you today. I made them using the beautiful The Birds & Bees Garden collection. Spellbinders releases always gorgeous collections but, maybe because of the type of flowers, maybe because it’s fall-themed, I particularly enjoyed The Birds & Bees Garden one.

The first card I would like to show you is created with the negative piece of Pom Pom Dahlia and Ladybugs die. This die set is supposed to create 3D Dahlia flowers and cut several nested flowers. I used the biggest metal die, which contains 8 flowers and I cut it twice on a piece of smooth white cardstock.

On another piece of white cardstock of the same size, I colored the spaces corresponding to the cut flowers. this way, by overlapping the two cards, the colored one below, and the die cut on above, the result is a cheerful rainbow of flowers.

The Happy Birthday sentiment I used for the card is from It’s My Party Collection by Carissa Wiley. That's a glimmer hot foil plate I foiled in gold on vellum. Last, I ended up card with a few clear sequins and glued the finished panel on an A2-size car base.

The other two cards I created are slim cards made with 3D embossing folder Basket of Sunflowers.

For both the bases of the cards I used Kraft cardstock. First, I colored them with Distress Oxide inks. Then, I embossed them straight away, when the paper had not yet completely soaked up the ink and was still wet. By doing so, I was able to obtain a deep embossed image

On the top of the embossed panel, I arranged the flowers from The Birds & Bees Garden collection: Asters, Black Eyed Susan and the already mentioned Pom Pom Dahlia. The flowers are die-cut from Spellbinders Limited Edition Happy Day cardstock. I arranged them ton on ton on the colored panel and I placed a brown half perl in the center.

The bold Happy Birthday of this card is a stamp from Sweet & Savory Sentiments. I embossed it on black cardstock using white embossing powder.

As I said before, the last card is made with Basket of Sunflowers embossing folder. This time, Instead of using the embossed design, I used the low-relief design of de-bossed.

This is a very dimensional card. In fact, I glued a fun black umbrella on top of the card panel that makes this card unsuitable to mail. Nevertheless, It's a fun and pretty card, perfect to deliver by hand and, why ni to accompany a gift.

To break the monotony of the black umbrella, added some confetti. The metal die I used is from Black Eyed Susan and it's to create the stems of the flower. Instead, I cut the tiny star shapes in pink, yellow and light blue cardstock and glued them on the umbrella. Moreover, the colorful confetti pairs perfectly with the sentiment of the card!
