Hello, crafty friends! I am so excited to be back on the blog to share the Classic Pooh Birthday collection with you! This collection is so nostalgic for someone like me who grew up with the books and the shows. Nothing says “Happy Birthday” to a new little one like Pooh!
I used some of the embossing folders, Better Press plates, stamps, and dies to create a set of three cards. Let’s take a look!
I began my first card by reaching for the Pooh image in one of the stamp sets. Such a sweet and simple image! Paired with the sentiments from the set, it becomes the perfect card for a new baby or a toddler’s birthday.
I stamped out a design for the background using the little flower image, and then colored it in with some light watercolors. I also added some dot accents with just a regular felt-tipped pen. Simple!
The Pooh Bear image is also stamped and colored with watercolor. After the coloring was dry, I went and stamped the sentiment next to it, added the scalloped border from the die in the collection, and wrapped a bit of twine around it all.
Popped up on foam adhesive over the background, I think it's so sweet and simple and would make a great addition to a gift for a baby shower!
I have the embossed background popped up on foam adhesive against a light blue cardstock for the base.
Now, for Kanga and Roo!
I used the die set to cut out all the pieces with white cardstock. I wanted to continue with the watercolor look of the cards, so after the pieces were cut out, I watercolored them and let them dry. Then, I assembled them using liquid glue.
I wanted little Roo to be in the arms of his mama, so I added him with a little foam adhesive for more dimension. Can never have enough dimension!
I also added the little accessories like the mug and handkerchief around Roo’s neck.
For the sentiment, I used the Better Press sentiments and cut them out with the coordinating dies. Then, I added them using foam adhesive. I love the question and answer sentiment; it gives Kanga a Roo a little conversation on the front of our card.
I do not know how to tell you how much I love this map of the Hundred Acre Woods! This map is a Better Press plate, so I used it on some white Better Press paper. The map itself looks amazing, even if you choose not to color it!
But color it I did. I added light touches of watercolor to the map. I didn’t worry about using watercolor paper since the map is pretty small and detailed anyway. You don’t need to do much blending of colors on the map. I chose to just dot in a mix of colors here and there to add dimension, especially on the trees.
Since the map itself has a lot going on for the eye to look at, I wanted to keep the rest of the card fairly simple. I added a vellum strip of paper that I cut a banner notch into the bottom of, and then I colored and cut out the stork, and added it to the front with foam adhesive.
The sentiment on the banner is stamped and then embossed with black embossing powder.
And, to tie it all together (no pun intended), I added a little twine bow to the bundle on the stork.

EMBOSSING WITH KANGA AND ROO
My second card features the embossing folder paired with the Kanga and Roo die set. I ran the embossing folder through my Platinum 6 with some white cardstock. I left the cardstock un-colored, but you could absolutely go ahead and add color if you’d like! Embossing folders are fun to ink blend over, or add color first and then emboss. Both ways work!
I have the embossed background popped up on foam adhesive against a light blue cardstock for the base.
Now, for Kanga and Roo!
