Inspired by the Sentiments in the Showered with Love Collection by Joan Bardee

Today I’m featuring 3 fun and colorful cards using products in the Showered with Love Collection designed by the super-talented Vicky Papaioannou. The design of each card was inspired by the sentiments in the I’ve Got You Covered Clear Stamp and Die set, which is part of this collection. The collection is full of clever open and closed umbrellas, weather symbols, flowers, a duck, etc. – all evoking spring. I took my cue from that season and used softer sherbet colors for each of the cards.

Celebrating With You For Your Shower

I’ll be attending a bridal shower later this spring so when I saw this sentiment, I had to make a card with the Umbrella Blooms die.

• Stamped the sentiment in black onto an A2 size white card panel.
• Created a stencil by die cutting one of the dies from the Raining Hearts Etched die set onto the vellum.
• Stenciled the rain in pale gray ink onto the white panel. It adds a fun touch without competing with the umbrella.
• Ink blended white cardstock in a variety of spring colors and black.
• Using Umbrella Blooms Etched Dies die cut the umbrella pieces and flowers and leaves.
• Adhered Opal Essential gems to the center of the flowers.
• Adhered the umbrella, flowers, and leaves onto the panel and then onto an A2 white card.
• Added a few more gems. Their sparkle just lights up the card.

Tip: Ink blending onto white cardstock gives a softer look than colored cardstock and works well with a spring theme. Tip: The top of the umbrella has 2 main pieces and several decorative panels. I placed some of the flowers behind the bottom layer, but most of the flowers are in between the bottom and top layers. I didn’t adhere the top of the umbrella until most of the flowers were in place. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been space to “fill” the umbrella with flowers.

RAIN OR SHINE, YOU’RE ALWAYS ON MY MIND

This is such a great sentiment, and I thought it would be perfect for a heart-shaped card. Die cut the cloud and sun pieces (outer and center) from Rain or Shine Etched Dies into larger pieces of vellum to create stencils. Stenciled gray clouds and yellow, orange, and red suns form a grid pattern. Using  Essential Hearts Etched Dies, I die-cut the stenciled panel and a white heart-shaped card and glued the panel to the card. Embossed the sentiment onto Black cardstock with white embossing powder. Trimmed with the die from Mini Everyday Sentiments Hot Foil Plate & Die set and adhered with foam tape. Added some clear drops to mimic rain.

Tip: Every die is a stencil waiting to be made. Tip: To make a grid with stencils, temporarily adhere your cardstock to grid paper or a grid mat, and each time you move the stencil, move it the same number of squares on the grid.

SORRY YOU’RE FEELING UNDER THE WEATHER

Speaking of grids . . . love to use a small image repeatedly in a grid layout. It does take a bit of time to die-cut all the pieces, but I love the result. In this case, the lightning bolt die in Rain or Shine Etched Dies is so fun and pairs perfectly with this sentiment.

Die cut the lightning bolt repeatedly in Brushed Gold cardstock and in a variety of colors that loosely follow a rainbow order. Die cut a few clouds in Graphite cardstock. Embossed the sentiment on Black cardstock with white embossing powder. Adhered all onto the white panel. Added some Sweet Sprinkles embellishments and adhered to an A2 layer of Graphite cardstock.
