More House-Mouse Christmas Card Ideas!

Hello crafty friends! It’s Carol here today and I’m totally thrilled to be back today to share three ideas using the totally adorable House-Mouse Christmas collection! I’m not normally a “critter” stamp-loving person, but when I saw the first House-Mouse Collection here at Spellbinders, I was in love with these adorable mice. Did you know that they even have names?!!  Take a close look at the package images and you will see the names! For this first card, I used the Bringing Christmas to You stamp set. This cute little mouse’s name is Monica!

First I stamped the adorable image with little Monica pulling the beautiful ornament through the snow in alcohol marker-safe ink. I slanted the stamp just a bit to make it look more like a hill! She looks so determined—LOL! I also stamped it again onto masking paper and cut it out with my detail scissors. I placed the mask over the image and used an ink blending brush to color a sky with Weathered Wood Distress ink. After removing the mask, I used my Copic markers to color the image. To color the little circles and ovals on the ornament, I used a gold gel pen.

The card base is 80# Neenah, with a brushed gold layer I die cut with the largest A2 Matting Basics B die. I die cut the image with the second largest A2 Matting Basics A die. I added a red cardstock layer I cut with my paper trimmer between the two die-cut layers. I heat-embossed the sentiment that’s included with the stamp set in gold embossing powder to coordinate with the other gold elements of the card. I used a white gel pen to add dots of “snow” around the ornament.

Check out my next card with little Muzzy swinging on the strand of Christmas lights! He’s from the Merry & Bright stamp set and looks to be having so much fun!

I stamped little Muzzy onto 80# Neenah and colored him with my Copic markers. I just had to create this scene to appear like he’s on a Christmas tree and swinging the lights up onto the tree, so I used my scissors to cut him out. The In the Pines embossing folder was perfect to emboss Fern cardstock for this little scene. I added a bit of Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink around the edges with and ink blending brush.

When I cut him out, I trimmed around the fur on his back and then colored the white cardstock with a YG67 Copic to match the Fern cardstock background.
Tip: to give your hand-cut images a finished look, use a black marker, such as the Memento Tuxedo black dual marker to go around the cut edges.
I added thin pieces of foam tape to the back of the image to pop it up on the card.
Tip: use your non-stick scissors to cut very narrow strips of your foam tape to fit onto the back of the image.
I added a few sprigs of greenery from the Make It Merry Florals tucked under the sentiment to complete the scene.

My final card idea with the adorable House-Mouse Christmas sets features the Noel stamp set. Maxwell, Monica, Mudpie, and Murray are posing with their greenery to spell out Noel!

I added a piece of Fern cardstock to my landscape A2 card base.  After I stamped the image and colored it with my Copic markers, I used the two largest Hemstitch Rectangles dies to cut the image out.

I decided to keep my card an “almost” one-layer card by stamping the sentiment just below the image of the mice. My trick for making sure I have the red rubber stamp in position and straight is to put the stamped image into my MISTI (or other stamp positioning tool). Then add a piece of acetate over your card, put the sentiment in position on the acetate and pick it up with the MISTI door. Then ink up the stamp, and stamp it onto the acetate. If it’s not how you like it, it’s super easy to reposition it and try again!

I love the details that the artist has drawn into each adorable image, and the red rubber stamps give the absolute best-stamped image. The little detail lines automatically add shading to make coloring these super easy! There are three other adorable stamp sets in the House-Mouse Christmas collection for you to check out in Spellbinders’ shop. I hope you’ve enjoyed meeting these sweet mice today, and that you’ve been inspired to try these out too!
