Hello crafty friends! It’s Rachel here with a fun card featuring some adorable new products from the new Summer Camp Collection by Allison Frazier. This card is geared toward beginners with some easy step-by-step instructions to follow.
One of my favorite things to do as a family is to go fishing on the weekends. Because of this, I absolutely adore this entire collection and was thrilled to feature the Splash Days Etched Dies for my project today.
Step 1: Use the featured four dies from the Woodland Trio Etched Dies to die cut the main pieces of the deer’s body from some Fawn ColorWheel Cardstock. Use the Woodland Trio Etched Dies for steps 1-9.
Step 2: Die-cut the deer’s face, tummy, and inner ears from some Alabaster ColorWheel Cardstock.
Step 3: Use a piece of Truffle ColorWheel Card Stock to die cut the deer’s antlers and hooves.
Step 4: Die cut a rounded rectangular piece from Classic White Cardstock to place behind the deer’s head to fill in the whites of the eyes. Then, die cut the dark part of the eyes and the nose from some Raven ColorWheel Cardstock.
Step 5: Combine the pieces from steps 1 and 2 with liquid adhesive for a firm hold.
Step 6: Once the body of the deer is assembled, adhere the white rounded rectangle to the back of the deer’s head so that it covers the holes of the eyes.
Step 7: Next, add the dark parts of the eyes from step 4 with liquid adhesive. Also, add the nose right above the deer’s mouth in the debossed area that shows an outline of where the nose is supposed to go.
Step 8: Attach the antlers and hooves with liquid adhesive. The antlers will adhere behind the deer at the top of its head.
Step 9: Once finished, this is what the completed deer should look like.
Step 10: Use the Splash Days Etched Dies to die cut the pieces of the fish from both Terra Cotta and Carrot ColorWheel Cardstock. Adhere the two pieces together with liquid adhesive. You will use the Splash Days Etched Dies for steps 10-13, and steps 16-17.
Step 11: Die cut the fishing pole and reel from Anchor and Raven ColorWheel Cardstock and glue the reel piece on top of the gray base fishing pole piece.
Step 12: Die cut pieces for the swimsuit from Tutu and Wild Berry ColorWheel Cardstock. Adhere the dark pink skirt on top of the light pink swimsuit. You can add the little bow to the swimsuit, but I decided to add it to the deer’s head instead.
Step 13: Use Waterfall, Beeswax, and Raven ColorWheel Cardstock pieces to die cut the lifejacket, straps, and buckles. Adhere together with more liquid adhesive.
Step 14: Dress up your deer by first adding the swimsuit and then the lifejacket. I used liquid adhesive, but you can use double-sided tape in this step if you prefer.
Step 15: Once assembled, this is what the deer should look like. This set also comes with a cute pair of swim trunks if you want to change things up a bit.
Step 16: Use the Splash Days Etched Dies to die cut the pieces from the boat. I used a blend of Acorn, Truffle, and Fawn ColorWheel Cardstock pieces.
Step 17: Assemble the boat. You can use 3D foam adhesive tape for added dimension on the darkest piece to give the boat some more depth, or just double-sided tape or liquid adhesive to keep it flat.
Step 18: Trim a 4” x 2.75” piece of Teal Topaz and a 4” x 2” piece of Waterfall ColorWheel Cardstock. Use the wavy die from the Landscape Edges Etched Dies to trim a wavy border at the top of each cardstock piece to resemble moving water.
Step 19: Once the pieces are die cut, adhere them together with the smaller/lighter-colored piece on top.
Step 20: Trim a piece of white card stock to 4.25” x 5.5” and die cut a window from the center of it using the fourth largest die from the Arch Labels and Tag Die Set. Next, trim a 4.25” x 5.5” piece of Seaside ColorWheel Cardstock to use as the background sky.
Step 21: Here is what the card base pieces should look like prior to assembly.
Step 22: Layer the waves behind the arched window and attach with adhesive (I used liquid adhesive). Next, attach this entire piece onto the 4.25” x 5.5” piece of Seaside Cardstock. Add the boat to the lower right side of the card front. I used foam adhesive tape on the back of the boat for some extra dimension.
Step 23: Next, attach the deer holding the fishing pole inside the boat. Trim a piece of Raven cardstock to heat emboss your sentiment from the Summertime Sentiments Clear Stamp Set with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder. If you don’t want to heat emboss your sentiment, you can stamp a smaller sentiment prior to adding the deer. Another option is to stamp the sentiment onto a strip of light-colored cardstock so you don’t have to heat emboss it. Finish the card by adding the entire card piece to a top-folding vertical A2-sized card base. To do this, trim a piece of cardstock to 4.25” x 11” and score it at 5.5” along the 11” side.
How cute is this sweet little deer?? I love how the sentiment coordinates perfectly with this set to make it a fun card to give to someone you love.
