Tips and Tricks with Dahlia Dimensional Doily Die of the Month | Spellbinders Live

Join Josie and Roy in the Creative Classroom as Josie creates with Becca Feeken’s Dahlia Dimensional Doily , the April 2021 Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month .

Dahlia Dimensional Doily includes a variety of flowers and elements to create with. The first is a flower made with round disks that link together to form the base and the petals. Watch the video below or on our Youtube channel to see just how Josie cuts, folds, and assembles the four-circle flower. She’ll share important tips and some of her favorite tools for creating the interlocking dimensional shape.

Roy loves to call Becca Feeken a “paper engineer” because of the creative and well-thought out ways she helps us slide, fold, and make amazing dimension with paper - and this die set is no exception! The possibilities are truly endless with these beautiful dies.

Next, Josie demonstrates the spiral rolled flower. Mist the die cut spiral with water to loosen the fibers and soften the paper. Josie’s recommended tool is the  Quilling Tip  on the  Tool-'n-One  for this project. Starting from the outer edge, slide the quilling tip in and twist until you get to the end of the die cut shape. The bottom becomes the base of the flower, held together with a little adhesive. (Use hot glue if you’re in a hurry!) If you don’t have a quilling tool, use tweezers to grab the outer edge of the spiral and twist!

Love this die set. Would love to see a demonstration on creating the other larger doily flower in upper left hand corner. Every demo I have seen is creating using the four interlocking dies. Great job and those flowers are easy to do and look great!
