Video: Glimmer Hot Foil Inspiration | Happy Birthday Journal Spread

Hello my Spellbinders friends! My name is Heba Alsibai , aka My Little Journal.  I’m so excited to be the Guest Designer for Spellbinders this month. I love working with the Glimmer Hot Foil System . It definitely makes everything you foil pop of your spread and the quality is out of this world. So I’m really excited to share my layout using the new Glimmer Plates release , with you today.

The beauty of the Glimmer Hot Foil System is the ease of it. Once you start the machine and let it heat up for a bit, you’ll have a nice warm platform for your plates. Then all you have to do after that, is build your platform with your favorite colored foil, add your paper then run it through your die cut machine. It’s as easy as 1,2,3.

As soon as I saw the theme of the new Glimmer Plates , I knew I wanted to document my son's birthday. He turned 17 and was really excited about it. Plus I had the perfect picture to document his special moment.

I really wanted my foiling to be center stage on my layout. So I opted to create my own foiled background then to use patterned paper. I’m a huge fan of polka dots, so I was really happy to see the Large Scattered Dot Pattern plate , from new Glimmer Plates release. It was the perfect plate to help me create a polka dot background for my title.

I started with foiling my polka dot plate with some black foil on some white card stock. Now my paper was larger then my plate, but this was not a problem at all. All I did was foiled the top half of my card stock and then foiled the bottom half. It was really easy to do and the out come was as beautiful as I imagined it to be. Bold and beautiful.

Now that my background was done, I decided to start working on my title. I used the Happiest Birthday plate to foil with gold onto white card stock. Then backed it up with black tissue paper to add dimension and help it pop of my background. I also foiled a few little sentiments from the Everyday Sentiments plates . Just to add more interest and they also worked as embellishment for my photo as well.

One of my go to embellishments is flowers. I don’t mind using flowers on my sons layouts. I actually think I do it more often on his layouts then I do on my daughters lol :) I used one of my favorite flower and die-cut from Medium Peony set By Stephanie Low . All I did was stamp the flower a couple of times on some white card stock, die-cut it out and tucked them behind my title. This really softened my layout and added a lot of depth to my spread.
