A Perfect Match

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I have some Valentine inspiration to share with you using some of the new goodies from the January release. I used my colored pencils with the Key To My Heart stamp and die bundle to create this intense, tone-on-tone project with Pitch Black cardstock. Let's get started with the details!

I began by embossing several of the elements from Key To My Heart onto Pitch Black cardstock using Embossing and Watermark ink and White embossing powder. The detail of the images from the Key To My Heart set look so beautiful with the stark white embossing on the black cardstock! I also embossed a couple of the sentiments included in the Key To My Heart set on a few strips of black cardstock.

Next, I used my Caran D'Ache colored pencils to add some color to the details of the heat embossed images. I kept the color scheme simple, adding some deep red, vibrant fuschia, and bright jungle green to the details. I love how vibrant the colors are on the stark black cardstock!

To add some interest to the background, I die cut the Chain Linked Fancy Die from some black glitter paper from the Glitter Paper Basics paper pack. I adhered it to the A2 Pitch Black card base. The glittery die cut creates subtle, but lovely, texture in the background! I arranged my embossed and penciled die cuts and sentiment strips on the glittering background and adhered them using foam adhesive and Precision Glue. I added a few Pinks Hero Hues Enamel Dots to add one final touch of color to the project.

Well, that's all for my project today! Thanks so much for reading, and have a marvelous day!
