Infinity Trees Christmas Card Tutorial with Stamping and Ink Blending

Hey there, crafty friends! It's Marie again from Marie Nicole Designs. Are you ready for Christmas? I believe that it is never too early to begin your Christmas crafting. I try to make Christmas cards throughout the year so when December rolls around, and I’m already overwhelmed by all the events going on, I have a stash already made. Today, I’ll be sharing an easy Christmas card that you can craft using the Infinity Trees from Spellbinders. I love these festive tree designs and the fact that they come with the coordinating dies. Let’s get started!

STAMP IT OUT

Prepare your trees by placing them on your cardstock where you want them to be stamped. If not using a stamp platform, just stamp them out using a block, and remember to leave space between the trees for the dies.

BLENDING INK ON YOUR STAMPS

Using a trio of colors, add the darkest color to the bottom third of the trees. Then, add your middle color and blend the two colors together by using an ink blending pad and just tapping the colors together where they meet. By using the blending pad and blending the colors along the line where they meet, you will get a nicely graduated color on your trees. Blend the middle and lightest colors together using the foam pad, as well. Then, go ahead and stamp onto your cardstock. TIP: I kept all my stamps on their packaging sheet and just adhered them to my platform door using some double sided adhesive. This way, I could stamp them all out without having to remove them from the backing sheet. This is optional.

STAMP AGAIN AND EMBOSS

Stamp the trees again after cleaning them off. Use embossing ink and gold embossing powder and then heat emboss with a heat tool.

CUT THEM OUT

Using the coordinating dies, go ahead and cut out all your trees. It is ok if you don't use them all on this one card. Save the extras and make multiple Christmas cards!

ADD A TREE WINDOW

Using the large tree die, cut out a window in the center of your front card panel. Then, grab a second piece of cardstock, three shades of red, and an ink blending tool to add some color behind the tree window.

INK BLEND

Ink blend the area that will show behind the window, using the darkest color at the bottom and lightest color at the top. Then, add foam adhesive to the back of the window panel and line up and adhere over the ink-blended panel.

ARRANGE TREES ON FRONT

Select the trees that you want and arrange them around the tree window on the front of the card. I used four trees, two ink-stamped and two embossed. Add them using foam adhesive for dimension.

ADD A SENTIMENT

Using the Christmas sentiments Better Press plates and coordinating dies, I stamped, embossed, and cut out a ton of Christmas sentiments. I’ll be keeping these handy to add to my Christmas cards as I craft them. I chose one that said, “Merry Christmas” and added it over the trees using foam adhesive.

EMBELLISH

To finish the card, add some sequins or pearls around your trees. Or on your trees if you want to decorate them a bit! And that’s it! Simple, but festive and colorful. What I love about this design of card is that while making one, you have so many pieces prepped already that you could make several more!
