All Aboard the Winter Express!

Welcome everyone! Mindy Eggen here with you today and it's time to board the Winter Express! Have your tickets ready, here we go!

Do you get into Hallmark movies around the holidays? It's a guilty pleasure of mine and when I first saw the Winter Express Bold Prints, it reminded me of a cover for one of those movies. What came to mind was the scenic background with the movie title over top so I tried to recreate that image.

Instead of coloring the background though, which would look awesome, I opted to do more of a tone-on-tone look. I started with Cherry cardstock cut to 6" x 6" and stamped the large background in Mulled Wine ink.

While I love flicking Glimmer Ink on my backgrounds, I wanted something a little more controlled. That leads me to one of my new favorite things to do which is take a white gelly roll pen and just add dots all over the background. This gives the appearance of a light snowfall. Super cool, right?

After the white ink was dry, I used the second largest rectangle in the Rectangle Infinity die set to trim out my background. By using the Infinity die, I was able to pick and choose what part of the background I wanted to use.

I also wanted to add just a touch of sparkle to this background so I lightly misted it with a sparkle spray I have in my stash.

Then, I added this panel to a Dove White card base using foam tape for dimension.

Keeping it simple and true to my inspiration, I die cut out the Happy Holidays from gold glitter cardstock and also three more times from Dove White cardstock. Then layered together with Precision Glue to add dimension to the sentiment and really set it apart from the background.

Just imagine how easy this would be to recreate for your holiday cards this year. You can do this technique in any color of cardstock and it would look amazing. My suggestion would be whatever color of cardstock you choose, just be sure to pick an ink that is a little darker to really set it apart.

Well, here's where we get off the Winter Express. I hope you enjoyed today's ride and be sure to travel with us again soon.

Sending hugs!
