Christmas Critters Scene

Today's card features some adorable winter animal images from the Winter Forest Animals clear set. This set is packed full of goodness -- it features 14 different animals, 8 sentiments and many other small images that are great for scene building.

I started out by stamping five different animals with Intens-ified Black Ink on Strathmore Bristol Smooth and die-cut them with the coordinating Winter Forest Animals Frame Cuts. I used the Sakura Koi Water Colors Pocket Field Sketch Box to watercolor the animals. If you aren't sure how to color a certain animal, just do a web search and you'll get lots of ideas! That's what I did with the fox to make sure I got the right areas colored to make it look more realistic.

Once the animals were done, I started to build the background. On a 4"x5.25" panel of white cardstock I created a light blue gradient on the top half of the panel using Splash Reactive Ink and and blending brush. Then I die-cut the Circle Confetti Fancy Die from another piece of white cardstock and used it as a stencil. I placed it over the blue background and used a Sponge Dauber and Sea Salt Reactive Ink to creating the falling snow. Doesn't this die make the the perfect snowy background!

The last piece to the background are the trees, which come from the Color Layering Christmas Tree set. I stamped three of them using Delicata Golden Glitz ink, which has a great shimmer and makes it look like the trees are glowing in the sun.

I freehand cut a curvy line to create a snow drift for the animals to sit on. This was also a great place for the message. I gold heat embossed the sentiment from the Build A Tree stamp set and then popped up this piece on my background using foam adhesive.

Then I used foam adhesive to place each of the animals on the card and continued to assemble the rest of the card on a Dove White Side-Folded Card.

To finish it off, I added some small details to the animals using Black and White Enamel Accents, which adds some fun dimension.

Since the card says "from our family to yours", I thought it would be fun to include five animals since that's how many people are in my family. You could easily switch up the number of animals to have it represent your family, too!
