CommUNITY: Inspiration from Tammy Garnett

Hi friends! Today we are here with an installment of our monthly series, CommUNITY, where we share artwork from artists who we'd love for you to get to know. CommUNITY is about embracing and honoring the creativity of individuals who are often underrepresented. By sharing art from a diverse group of creators, we hope to not only bring inspiration to this papercrafting community we all love so much, but also support and empower individuals to be their authentic selves as they create and share. Look for a new CommUNITY guest artist right here on the blog each month. Today our fantastic guest is Tammy Garnett!

My name is Tammy Garnett and I hail from The Motor City, Detroit, MI. I have been an avid crafter since I was able to color in the lines. As a kid I loved going to the local craft stores for paint, watercolors, calligraphy pens and the list goes on. Cardmaking is a great way to wind down after a long day. I try to create 6-8 cards a week.

By day I am a Learning and Development professional, by night I craft!!!! LOL! I am also a marathoner and when I am not crafting or working, I am running. This year I am planning on running a 50k (31 miles). I am also wife and mom of 3 high school boys. My superpower is being mom of twins!

I love the United People Bold Prints stamp. Not only is it big, but you can do so much with it. In the first card I stamped it in black ink and used watercolor markers to color the faces. I paired that with strips of the Hero Arts Colors of Earth Paper. I used the sentiment from the Rainbow HeroScape stamp set.

In the second card I used the same stamp and paper, but a little differently. I took my trusty sharp blade and cut out the hair for a few of the people I stamped. Then I popped up the card base with adhesive dots and added the Colors of Earth Paper to add color to their hair. The sentiment is from the Rainbow HeroScape stamp set.

I made a few other cards with Hero Arts products, you can take a look at them on Instagram - my handle is @Yupimadethat.

Tammy, thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous cards and talent with us today!
