December My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #1 + Giveaway!

Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the December My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, December 4th at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We'll be here for the next three days, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will also be available on Monday. And, remember to comment on each and every post as we'll be giving away a kit on Monday morning, before the kit launches! Now join Janette as she shares a first glimpse at this enchanting kit...

Hi there! Thanks so much for popping in to the Hero Arts blog today for a peek at the newest edition to the My Monthly Hero Kits. I am excited to introduce December's kit loaded with Arabian Night-ish / Moroccan vibes.

I knew as soon as I saw this set that I had to work with the gate, palms and charming enchantress. I began by creating a galaxy background and adding shading behind each dune gives the effect of depth. Next, partially die cut the gate into the background stopping just above the dunes. Finish trimming out by hand.

When working with die cuts, I sometimes want the rim as a border and other times it doesn't fit with the scene. In this case, the white rim would not have enhanced the card. To remedy, you could fussy cut - but an easier solution is to color the edges to match the background.

I also colored the white embossing with a yellow marker to tint the sentiment. This isn't great for markers, so I don't make a habit of it, but here and there it is just necessary, lol!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We'll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, December 4th, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!

Dana Parker,

This kit has the potential to change lives with young women in the middle east – dont just give it away to a crafter in the western world – be a real hero and rescue a life with it – imagine this opening a new world of relationships and skill sharing and then maybe even revenue IMAGINE the potential this has – its soo much more than making a card – it’s a tool to rescue children with a common frame of reference – counseling – womens groups – refugees – sow this kit to grow real potential reap a harvest of people with heroic purpose – we reap what we sow – sow potential Jewish Voice Ministry reaches into the darkness and brings hope use these products to bring hope this Christmas ( its getting dark outside quickly) rescue someone today
