Extraordinary Extras: June Ideas + Video

Hello and welcome to our new Extraordinary Extras feature for the month of June! If you have been around the Hero Arts blog for a while, you may have come to know Wednesday of launch week as "Awesome Add-ons" day. This is much the same – only the name has changed! Awesome Add-ons have now become Extraordinary Extras . Each month as part of our Hero Studio release, we offer a variety of exciting new products to complement the monthly theme and Card Kit . Unlike the Hero Studio subscription products, Extraordinary Extras are restocked in the shop if they sellout. Let's jump right in and take a peek at the June goodness, shall we?

Today we have Kelly Rasmussen here to share some fabulous "beyond the kit" ideas for a few of the extras. Take it away, Kelly...

I love a nice bold graphic pattern and so I was immediately drawn to the tile patterns in several of the Extraordinary Extras products.

My first card uses the Decorative Tiles stamp set. This set features 15 1"x1" tile patterns that can be used individually or layered to build dimensional patterns.

I created a clean and simple design in a monochromatic color scheme to allow the beautiful detailed patterns to really stand out. The ink colors I used are Pale Tomato , Pink Grapefruit , and Cotton Candy .

I also wanted to mention that the new Decorative Tile Pattern Stencil coordinates with this stamp set and allows you to build even more detailed patterns. Endless creative possibilities!

Next, I used the Color Layering Tile Stencils to create a bold focal point with lots of dimension and texture.

I used Pool Party , Key Lime Fizz , Blue Raspberry, and Green Apple Reactive Inks to ink blend the four layers of the stencil. Then I placed the 4th stencil back over the pattern and applied Glitter Hero Paste over the top. It looks like green paste was used, but that is one of the beauties of this transparent paste.

For a full walkthrough of this month's extras, check out the video below. It's also available to view on YouTube .
