Flowers & Swirls Brayered Background

Hello crafty friends! It's Mindy with you today to share inspiration using the beautiful new Flowers and Swirls Bold Prints stamp.

You know what one of my favorite ways to create backgrounds is right now? Using a rubber brayer. I like creating with my gel press and all but I found I liked the scratch paper I was cleaning my brayer on more then the background sometimes. Here's an example of it.

I started by inking up a gel plate with Indigo and Orchid inks. Then I used my rubber brayer to blend that ink together on the gel plate. On a piece of Lavender cardstock, I rolled my brayer across it to transfer that color I picked up.

I did that multiple times but changed the direction of my brayer. I even added a little Grape Juice ink to darken it up for more contrast.

It creates the most amazing abstract background and the ink dried fairly quickly. If you are not sure, you could always hit it with your heat tool.

Next, I prepped that cardstock with an anti-static powder tool, stamped the Flowers & Swirls Bold Prints in embossing ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

You could definitely heat emboss first, but I like doing it last because what if the background didn't turn out the way I wanted it to? I would have heat embossed for nothing.

I finished off this card by stamping a sentiment from the Floral Mandala set onto Lavender cardstock and trimming it down to a thin strip. I also added this beautiful die cut butterfly from the Envelope Accessories die set.

I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration!

Hugs,
