Our new Japanese Wishing Garden set is full of small images to use in many ways. When I think of Asian-themed cards, I think simple with hints of gold. So many of their washi papers are embedded with gold. Keeping in that tradition, I made one card and one gift tag with gold embossing.
For the card, I embossed the message in gold on yellow card stock, and the gate image in gold on golden brown paper. The image is easily die cut with the matching Japanese Garden Frame Cuts. Then I took a piece of washi paper and glued it to the edge of the yellow card. The gate was decorated a bit by embossing the tiny flower from the stamp set on pinkish-red paper and cut out.
For the gift card, you could use either the Envelope Fancy Die or Mini Mailer Fancy Die to create your envelope. I decorated it with the tiny solid flower stamped in three shades of yellow, orange and pinkish red. I also embossed both the pagoda and message from the stamp set in gold.
I was on a roll, so I made one more card with this adorable stamp set. To create the message frame I drew a light pencil line to form a rectangle on ivory card. The “hello” was stamped in black as shown, along on the lines. Next, for the geishas, I stamped them five times inside the frame. Next I stamped the geisha on washi paper, then fussy cut kimono and hat and glued onto the images on the card. Gems on the hats were a great way to finish this card.
