Happy Birthday

Looking for a birthday card design that could work for just about anyone? I’ve got you covered. This simple design featuring the new Luggage Tag Alphabet Frame Cuts and some watercoloring is just the ticket!

Happy Birthday by Kelly Rasmussen for Hero Arts

I started out by creating a watercolor background using various colors of Distress Ink. I painted a gradient of rainbow colors and then really piled on the water and let it sit and works it’s magic. Good quality watercolor paper is key here as it can handle more water. Then I carefully blotted up the excess water so the edges of color would stay soft and blend smoothly from one color to the next.

The message was made by die cutting the word “happy” from both black and white cardstock using the Luggage Tag Alphabet Frame Cuts. I adhered the white letter over the black, leaving just a touch showing, creating a drop shadow. The “birthday” portion of the message is from the awesome Birthday Messages clear stamp set.

I love the cheery rainbow colors on this card and think it could be sent to anyone! But if you’re looking for something more masculine or feminine the watercolor panel could easily be changed to whatever colors you want.

Have an amazing day!
