Hi friends! I'm here today with my absolute favorite type of card - a mixed media card. And in case I haven't said it before - let me de-complicate mixed media for you. All that means is you are using two or more mediums on your card. It doesn't have to be a certain style, or use certain products - just mix a minimum of two mediums and you are doing mixed media!
The mediums I'm mixing on today's card are Hero Paste and Hero Arts Liquid Watercolor. The Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors are so pigmented straight out of the bottle, so they are so fun for this technique.
First, I covered a card front with one of the stencils from the Floral Filigree Stencil Pair pack. I love these black stencil pairs because they make it easy to see when I've missed a spot with Hero Paste. I taped the stencil to the back of the cardstock on top and bottom so it wouldn't shift while I'm working.
Next - using a palette knife - you can also use an old credit card - I applied the paste through the stencil, checking to make sure I had complete coverage. I lifted the stencil and put it carefully on a non-stick craft mat to dry.
*TIP* - before setting the card down to dry, run your knife along the edges of the card panel to get any excess paste off the sides of the panel.
Drying time will vary based on your climate and humidity. I let mine dry for an hour or so. When it's perfectly dry, grab your Pink, Dandelion, and Deep Ocean Liquid Watercolor and drop color onto your card panel. I was using mixed media paper; you can use any sturdy water-friendly or watercolor paper.
Tip the card so the watercolor runs, and assist it by lightly misting it with water to get complete coverage. Once it's all covered, feel free to add more watercolor to increase the saturation if you'd like - I did.
Allow that to air dry - heat could cause warping or bubbling. Hero Paste is extremely smooth when dry, so if you wanted to, you could doodle on top of the flower images! I kept mine simple, cutting the Happy Thanks Stamp & Cut XL with the Glitter Paper Basics.
As a final touch - I splattered the whole thing with Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink - I can never resist that!

Wonderful mix media card. Made a card using the Bold Print with the houses that came in the Dec Kit. Stamped in black on white. Used the sign die. Card was made for the Realtor that is helping my daughter find her first house to buy.
