Monochromatic Holiday Card

If you've lost your creative mojo or are struggling with a color scheme, pulling a selection of monochromatic products is a great way to help you get started. Sometimes limiting your supply options can be a good thing and not make you feel overwhelmed with all the choices.

Today I'm using a selection of Hero Arts premium cardstock, inks and enamel dots to create a monochromatic holiday card.

I'm using Hero Arts Premium Cardstock in Arctic, Paradise and Adriatic, Soft Pool Ink, Emerald Green Ink and Aqua Enamel Dots.

To create the card I die cut the Snowflake Pattern Cover Plate die from Arctic cardstock and adhered it to a panel of Adriatic cardstock. When using delicate dies like this, I like to use a spray adhesive to make sure all areas are secure. Next, I die cut the Snowflake Pattern die again from Paradise cardstock. But with this one, I used scissors to trim out certain snowflakes and adhere them over the top of the ones on my panel.

For the sentiment area, I trimmed a piece of Dove White Cardstock measuring 2.5"x1.75". I lightly inked the edges with a blender brush and Soft Pool Shadow Ink.

Next, I die cut the word "joy" using my favorite Luggage Tag Alphabet Dies and again created a blended gradient on the letters with Soft Pool Ink. I die cut the word "joy" two more times from Dove White Cardstock and then adhered the all the letters together so the word would have some dimension. I adhered the letters to the white message panel and then stamped a coordinating message from the Peace, Love + Joy clear stamp set with Emerald Green Ink.

I mounted the sentiment panel to a piece of vellum and then to the snowflake base. Finally, I adhered this piece to a Dove White Top Folded Card and added a scattering of Aqua Enamel Dots.

Most of the time when I sit down to make a card, I start with a stamp or die in mind that I want to use. But today I started with a grouping of monochromatic products and I love the direction it took me.

Thanks for joining me today!
