Saturdays with Sally - You are SPE-SHELL!

Who knew I could create a sandy, underwater scene while stamping in the desert?? All you need are the new aquatic stamps and dies from the May release! And a bit of my backyard desert sand for the perfect prop!

Let’s begin with die cutting the Swirling Tide Border Fancy Die from Mist cardstock. Put a card base created from Paradise cardstock under it. Stamp your message from Color Layering Abalone in Aegean Bold Ink. Stamp the first Color Layering Abalone layer in Jungle Mist Liquid Watercolor that has been diluted with water. I painted the Jungle Mist onto the stamp with a brush, then stamped onto Handmade Watercolor Paper. Use Pink Liquid Watercolor for the second layer using the same process. Let thoroughly dry, then stamp layer three in Black Ink. Die cut with the coordinating Frame Cuts when dry. While the paint was drying, I cut many seaweed colors (Kiwi, Pesto, Adriatic, Mustard and Peony) from scraps using the seaweed die from the Abalone set. To add some dimension, I die cut many shells from Seashells Fancy Dies out of the same seaweed colors, plus white and gold cardstocks. (Note: these dies are currently out of stock, but due back in house next week!)

To finish the card, I added some sparkle and “abalone-type shimmer” with some Pewter Glimmer Metalic Ink and Sparkle Clear Lacquer Pen. You can apply them sparingly with a small brush. Let dry and mount in a pleasing arrangement with glue and foam tape. Add some Enamel Dots on the bottom and abalone shell.

There's nothing like bringing a little ocean to my desert life!

Thanks for stopping by today!
