All of us have smaller stamps in our collections that we love, but on their own, they might not be big enough to be the focal point of a card. One of the easiest ways to use these beautiful, but often-overlooked stamps, is to stamp them multiple times to create larger designs or backgrounds. Today, I’m sharing two simple cards that I made using the elegant, new Brocade stamp. Not only is this flourish stamp lovely on cards, but it’s a classic element that can also be added to mixed media and collage projects.
To make my first card, I started by stamping the Brocade stamp onto small pieces of Nautical, Paradise, Passion Flower, and Periwinkle cardstock with Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I embossed each flourish with White Embossing Powder. Using a small Square Infinity Die, I easily cut around each image. Then, I secured four squares to the center of a panel of Dove White cardstock with Precision Glue. The group of stamped squares creates a small background reminiscent of a traditional bandana.
Next, I layered the embossed background with three flower stems that I die cut from additional cardstock scraps with the Water Lilies Fancy Dies. I also embossed a simple birthday message from the Let’s Celebrate stamp set onto a strip of Amethyst cardstock that I placed over the flower stems. To finish the card, I secured the panel to a Nautical card base with foam tape and then I added three, scattered Aqua Enamel Dots.
For a second card, using the same supplies and simple techniques, I stamped and embossed four additional brocade flourishes and two birthday wishes. This time, I positioned a sentiment strip below each pair of brocade designs. The color-blocked design is simple but striking and makes this delightful, little stamp the center of attention.

Very nice, clean lined and elegant card.
I’m finding it interesting to see techniques from the past, late 90’s early 2000’s resurfacing.
Just love the tiled look of your brocade squares, Jayne – both versions are delightful but I especially love the tulip one!!
