Video: Adding Details to Simple Die Cut Tags

Hi friends! I love nothing more than die cut inlay, and I love coming up with new ways to add details to simple dies to make them really pop.

The new October Card Kit of the Month has beautiful tag stamps and coordinating dies, and one of the images has a multi-functional die that can stand on its own, and I thought I'd show you some unique details you can add.

I just used plain white cardstock to cut three pieces – the two pieces the tree die cuts, and one extra plain tag with the coordinating die for a base.

Setting the background portion of the die aside, I masked the edges of the frame to apply Green Apple Reactive Ink with a blending brush to the main part of the tree and splattered it with water. I used the die to partially cut the bottom and top of the tree die with White Glitter Paper to get the star and the snowy bank. For the background piece, I repeated the process with Blue Hawaii and Purple Galaxy Reactive Inks.

You'll see in the video how you can change the length of the tag as I've done here. You could make it as long as a bookmark for a fun holiday gift.

To finish the tag, just use an alcohol marker to color the trunk, and glue everything together. I stamped and die cut the sentiment for the bottom.
