Video: Adding Dimension To One Layer Cards With Coloring

Hello there, I am really excited to be sharing my first project over here on the Hero Arts blog. Today I am focussing on one layer cards. One layer cards can often seem boring but there are plenty of ways to make them more exciting!

Marianne's Flowers by Michelle Short for Hero Arts

I have decided to make shaped cards today. I think shaped cards make one layer cards a bit more exciting than standard A2 sized ones. I have folded white cardstock into a square and then ran this through my die cutting machine using the Circle Infinity Dies . I then chopped a little off the bottom so that they stand up straight. This is a quick and easy way to make a shaped card.

I inked up the lily from the Marianne’s Flowers Stamp Set using Intense Black Ink and stamped it slightly off of the side of the card base. I stamped the sentiment, from the Many Everyday Messages Set above. The image was then coloured using Copic Markers. I also made sure to colour around the image to add more dimension and create interest.

Since I had so much fun creating the first card, I decided to create a second using the same design but this time, using the rose image from the set, along with a different sentiment; again from the Many Everyday Messages Set.

You can see the video of how I made the cards here:

As you can see, you can add a lot of dimension to one layer cards with colouring. This keeps the card flat which is great for mailing. Thank you for visiting us today, I hope you have a great day!
