Video: Color Layering Peacock. You’re Truly Radiant Card

Hello friends! New products from the 2017 Catalog are shipping to your favorite retailers as I am typing up this post (they will also be available in the Hero Arts Store on Feb 14th) and so I thought I’d share some inspiration using one of my favorite sets from the color layering section – the Color Layering Peacock.

This time I got to play not only with the stamp set, but also with a fun stencil that goes along with it (both products can also be used separately) – SA094 Peacock Feathers.

To learn how to make this card please watch video tutorial below:

Because this peacock is a two part image (a separate color layering body and a separate color layering tail) I first die cut the bird’s shape out of white cardstock using coordinating Frame Cuts die.

To do my stamping I used Hero Arts recommended ink colors (from the AF394 Peacock Layering ink cube set) with the exception of Emerald Green, which I replaced with the new Antigua color. So I used Deep Ocean and Navy (for the bird’s body); Antigua, Deep Ocean and Lemon Yellow (for the bird’s tail) and Navy (for the bird’s feet).

The last “highlight” tail layer seems very tiny, but if the previous two tail layers are aligned properly you’ll be able to add gorgeous yellow highlights to your peacock’s tail.

To create a background for this project I used a white cardstock panel and blended Mint Julep, Tide Pool and Antigua inks to create an ombre background. I then placed the Peacock Feather stencil and added a generous amount of Glimmer Paste in Gold. There are a lot of things you can do using a stencil such as ink blending, dry embossing, heat embossing and more.

To create a sentiment I heat embossed “You’re Truly Radiant” in Gold embossing powder to match the gold in the background. Lastly, I embellished my card using several sequins from the new Ombre Ocean sequin pack.

Have fun stamping!
