Video: Gate Fold Card with the May My Monthly Hero Kit

Hello friends! It's Channin here and today I’m creating a gateway fold card with the May 2021 My Monthly Hero Kit . In today’s video I will demonstrate how to use partial die-cutting to create a custom card base as well as how I Copic color many images from the kit’s stamp set!

You can watch the video below or HERE on the Hero Arts YouTube channel.

To create this card I first stamped several images from the kit’s stamp set in Intens-ified Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock. I then Copic colored all my images and then die cut them out with the matching dies.

Next, I Copic colored the white border around the images so they would blend into the Adriatic cardstock I had chosen to create the card base from.

I then created my gate fold card base starting with two A2 side-folding (5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; scored at 4 1/4”) Adriatic card bases. Next, I partially die cut the front of one of the card bases with the large coral reef die from the kit. I trimmed off the excess cardstock around the partial cut with a craft knife and ruler. Next, I repeated this process for the second card base and then adhered the two uncut halves of the card bases together to form one card.

Next, I adhered the coral images over their partially die cut counterparts on the card base and trimmed off any overhang.

I then stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment from the set onto Pitch Black cardstock and fussy cut it out. I adhered it and a fish to the front card flaps. Lastly, I stamped a sentiment inside the card in Intens-ified Black Ink and adhered a fish next to it.

I hope you enjoyed my card and video! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Jean Heming,

This is a wonderful idea, especially for the GORGEOUS larger dies! The ciral reef die is perfect for this so the fish can swim inside the reef. I’m so excited to try this. Thanks!

Carol E. Wortman,
