Video: Layered Stenciling + a Caffeinated Thank You

Hi friends! It’s Charlene here with a card that’s cozy, colorful, and full of layered texture. I paired the Coffee or Tea Stamp & Cut with the Delft Floral Layering Stencils to create a soft floral background behind a warm and welcoming mug. There’s a video tutorial as well so you can follow along as I bring it all together.

I started by stamping the large mug image using Intens-ified Black Ink, then colored it with alcohol markers to give it a soft, peachy glow. After die cutting it with the coordinating die, I stamped the sentiment “Thanks a latte” right in the center of the mug for a playful, heartfelt touch.

For the background, I used the Delft Floral Layering Stencils. I began with the stencil that has the largest openings and ink blended with Cotton Candy Core Ink. I followed with Pale Tomato Core Ink for the second layer, then finished with Sand Core Ink on the detail layer. Neutral shades like sand, gray, or espresso can give stenciled designs a subtle sophistication and help focal elements stand out without overwhelming the background.

To create a grounding element for the mug, I added a white cardstock strip across the bottom portion of the card. Just above that, I layered two super skinny strips of Bellini and Tutu cardstock for a soft separation between the background and the clean base.

I popped up the mug with foam adhesive and added a scattering of iridescent sequins from the Champagne Sequins Mix to finish things off with a little sparkle.
